Spring and early autumn are the most paint-friendly times of year across the Garden Route. During these seasons, humidity is lower, rain is less frequent, and the temperatures are moderate—helping your paint to bond, cure, and dry as intended.

Summer brings high UV exposure which can affect the drying process and cause premature fading, especially in darker colours. Winter’s chill and dampness can delay drying and increase the risk of paint bubbling or peeling later on.

Aim to paint when the forecast gives you at least three dry days in a row, with mild daytime temperatures and minimal overnight moisture. Early mornings and late afternoons can bring dew—so plan for mid-morning to mid-afternoon application windows.

Also consider which side of your house gets the most sun. West-facing walls take more heat and should be painted during cooler hours to avoid flash drying and streaking.
